Athens Cinemas
Athens is one of the few places in the world where outdoor cinema is still popular, and that's due to the dry summers of Greece. Outdoor cinema is one of the most popular forms of entertainment during the hot summer months in Athens. They run from June till September with some of them also operating in the winter, since they have a retractable roof that opens and closes.
There are dozens of outdoor Athens cinemas throughout the Athens area and almost every neighborhood of the capital has at least one outdoor cinema.
Films usually change every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and the films start at dusk, around 9 p. m. with a later showing at 11 p.m. Plenty of popcorn, candy, refreshments such as beers, coffees, soft drinks, nachos, potato crisps, chocolates and ice creams are available. Films are listed in the daily newspapers.
